reflection
I am currently in New York, and I must say being in a different major city brings out the Chicagoan in me. There are just things that I realized I have taken for granted having lived in THE architectural city. But there is definitely beauty in this city as well.
I am pretty proud of myself for really putting up at least one picture a day for my semester studying a broad range of topics about Chicago. Not only have I studied an urban phenomenon, I have also absorbed some of it in my character. Apparently, I can get all hood, ya know what i’m saying?
But what I have really learned is how to take more control of my life and be less scared of being forward when I need to so that I can jump on opportunities. (b/c if I didn’t I wouldn’t have been able to personally know the asian girl from Barney!)
Being less scared is a great feeling!
(will need it for I have one more semester before graduating)

For the first time this semester, I have no pictures I took today.
But I did my Food Justice final presentation today and these pictures are the ones I used. Earlier this year, Michelle Obama gave a new food guideline visual to replace the old food pyramid. My Food Plate is supposed to focus on the proportions of food one eats and that vegetables and grains should be of the largest amounts.
I compared this to the Chinese approach to nutrition and how we have “hot” and “cold” food representing Yin and Yang and how there should be a balance to maintain body homeostasis.
These are similar in that it isn’t how much of each food group you eat (which is what the old food pyramid focused on which still causes obesity), but percentage of your intake should be from specific food groups that offer certain organic chemistry benefits.
Asians thought of this first.

I rolled each and every one of these mthfkkhss! they better make me popular and get me a good grade for my Food Justice final project tomorrow. In the process, repping Asians in every possible way. (:

Just got back to Chicity from Beloit, WI. Ugh after Chicago I dread going back to campus, however I do miss the people. And the December Dance Shows last night were just amazing! But check out the costumes I handmade!

just doing some aldermanic chilling in the city hall council meeting room. listening to Joe Moore, Alderman of the 49th Ward answer our questions about Chicago. spinning in the seats that the alderman sit in. no big deal.
